The Miller-Taylor Farm was first established in the early 1950’s. But the family history with farming and selling produce goes back long before post World War II.
Miller Family
The Miller family first came to Weld County Colorado from Denmark in the 1870’s. It was a period of pioneering development along the front range. The family settled near the newly formed railroad town of Platteville, and the bountiful banks of the South Platte River. Many of the descendants continue to farm and are still involved in various forms of agriculture.

Our grandparents Ruth and Steve Miller. They are now deceased, but lived well into their 90’s. They were married over 70 years.
Taylor Family
The Taylor family first came to Weld County Colorado from Missouri around 1920. Fred and Edna Taylor were indirectly involved in farming, as they owned the local grocery store in Platteville. During a period of time, it was known as the Red and White Grocery. The Taylor’s were well respected business owners, offering fine quality meats, produce and canned goods at a fair price. The Taylor’s acquired produce from local farmers, and also extended credit, so farmers could settle their bills after the crops were harvested. The business survived the depression, World War II and the post war era. The Taylor’s sold the grocery store and retired in the 1960’s.

This is our maternal grandmother, Edna Taylor when she was a child, with her brother A.C. As adults both of them worked in the store; A.C. ran the meat market. Circa 1908.
